Artist's Comments

A 3D version of MC Escher's "Ascending and Descending" made for college last October.

The camera really does work to make the illusion, just when this was rendered the camera got moved slightly.

I've seen "Ascending and Descending" before. It was pretty cool to see is then, but in 3 dimensions? Bricks were shat, simply put.

Escher is brilliant, and this is a great remake of the A/D piece in 3D :)

No, of course not. This was built in Autodesk Maya.

so why did you move the camera? did you use fryrender, by the way? looks good, very believable =)

Paquette made the render without me even knowing, and just gave it to me. So unfortunately he moved the camera in the process. And yes, I believe it's Fry.

... and then he kinda defeated the whole purpose by removing the illusion? xD Sheesh. Did you comment on that or not?

To him? I put it in the description here so people would know. I think it's close enough that you can easily see that it would work if moved slightly.

And no I didn't say it to him, it's still an awesome render and I know FRY takes about a month to make one :P

I thought it was fairly impossible to do Escher style 3D.

I am impressed that you can even get that much of an effect, let alone the full effect. How does the model work???

Really cool :D
